In my fantasy of how tonight's Oscar Show will unfold, these are my most anticipated moments:
* * *
James Franco comments on his Best Actor nomination--"I'd give my left arm for an Oscar!"
* * *
73-year-old David Seidler gets a standing ovation, in recognition of his life, and labor of love, encapsulated in one marvelous screenplay.
* * *
An upset in the Animated Feature category
* * *
"Black Swan" wows the Academy with it's awesome Cinematography and Editing..
* * *
Overcome with emotion, Colin Firth goes speechless at the podium
* * *
A deserved show of love for Goffrey Rush
* * *
Helena Bonham-Carter bringing down the house and stealing the show with her acceptance speech.
* * *
A gasp from the crowd as Annette Bening is called to the stage
* * *
A poetic follow-up to the final sequence in their film, as the producers of "The Social Network" wait for a reply to a friend request that will never be answered....* * *
Friendship, as relevant today as it ever was, will triumph...
"Forget everything else and just say it to me. Say it to me, as a friend."
As I said, it's just my fantasy...but then, especially in Hollywood, some dreams do come true! Enjoy...

I like your choices, and your reasons.
ReplyDeleteGo Annette! (though I loved Natalie Portman's performance in Black Swan, too.) Go Colin, Geoffrey and Helena! Hope the Social Network folks and the Coen Brothers go home Oscar-less, but I'm also preparing myself for the inevitability of a disappointment that they won't. Any way you slice it, the Oscars are a guilty and fun pleasure. I'm also goose-pimply. And the Oscar goes to ... :)
ReplyDeleteAh, so many lovely moments that coulda, woulda, shoulda happened. Ah well... maybe next year. Although David Seidler truly did give one of the best speeches of the night, so that part was half-come-true. They had better not Thelma Ritter Annette! Better take her up on the next performance opportunity or there will be riots of bloggers in the streets! :)
ReplyDeleteThere will be riots, I'll fly down to LA just to be a part of that riot. (The thing is she always SO happy at these shows, and she keeps on losing. Maybe her good-nature makes people think she doesn't care.)
ReplyDeleteThanks, all of you, for sharing your thoughts, predictions, hopes, and opinions. I know that Annette will triumph some day. I look forward to next year's season, and will be visiting all of you regularly until then.
